SPEAKER DELAY SCHEMATIC CIRCUIT DIAGRAM

SPEAKER DELAY: To safeguard against noise during the initial operation of amplifiers and to shield speakers from potential damage, the control component is a standard feature in sound systems. It essentially functions as a timing circuit, although I’ve primarily incorporated it into my circuit designs. Additionally, I’ve experimented with a few additional delayed timer circuit configurations.

Our initial circuit is somewhat more intricate compared to other examples. I’ve integrated it with the LM741 Opamp and conducted testing using the provided PCB files.

How it works

In this circuit, a relay is employed to switch off the speaker initially. Subsequently, after a brief delay of approximately 3 seconds, the relay engages, allowing the speaker to connect to the power amplifier output. This setup follows the standard practice for enjoying music.

Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how it functions:

  1. Initially, there is a low voltage across the circuit. There’s no bias current to the Base of Q1 through R2, rendering both Q1 and RY1 non-operational.
  2. Meanwhile, capacitor C1 steadily accumulates current until it reaches full charge.
  3. Once C1 is fully charged, Q1 receives a bias current, activating the circuit. This action pulls two contacts together, energizing the relay (RY1), and subsequently connecting the power amplifier to the speaker.
  4. To adjust the delay time, capacitor C2 can be employed. If a longer delay is desired, additional capacitance can be added to C2. Conversely, reducing the delay time involves reducing the capacitance of C2.

Additionally, the LM741 series comprises versatile operational amplifiers that offer enhanced performance compared to industry-standard models such as the LM709. They can be directly substituted for the 709C, LM201, MC1439, and 748 in most applications.

Furthermore, the LM741 can be utilized as a comparator to discern input voltage levels, determining whether the applied input voltages are smaller or larger relative to each other at its input terminal.
